Students NHD Teams Advance to State Competition

 

The National History Day Team participated in their Regional competition at UNC Greensboro on Saturday. Of the five teams, St. Michael students placed first in Group Exhibits and first and third in Group Documentaries. These three entries will advance to the State Competition at the NC Museum of History in April.

 

Lauren McClure, Riley Allen, Allison Schueller took first place for their documentary “Hammer vs. Dagenhart: The Fight for Child Labor in the South”.

 

Colin Whelehan, Joey Biersack, Joey Milazzo, and MJ DiFiore presented their documentary “Berlin Airlift: Saving West Berlin from Communism, One Plane at a Time” and came in third.

 

Allie Goulding, Grace Mullahy, and Maria Bassett came in first for their exhibit “Watergate Scandal: Presidency or Rule of Law”.

 

Robbie Flanagan, Ryan Christensen, and Harrison Day presented "Harlem Hellfighters". Josh Bevan also worked on this project but was unable to attend the presentation. 

 

Brandon Wisniewski and Bryce Zygmond made a website presentation on fighting disease while building the Panama Canal.
