PreK - Grade 8 Curriculum

Our mission is to serve PreK – Grade 8 students by meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs. St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School provides a Christ-centered Catholic education with a focus on academic excellence, and the development of the whole person, through our core values of reverence, service, and leadership.

Faith-infused standards and objectives are provided by the Diocese of Raleigh, and research-based curriculum is implemented with rigor across PreK – Grade 8.

Cursive handwriting across all grade levels, beginning in Grade 2.

iReady assessments three times a year, which produces valuable data to inform instruction and support learning gains.

Participation in The Positivity Project Character Education Program, to develop self-aware, empathetic students formed in faith.

The Director of Curriculum and the Academic Support Teachers for Math and Reading provide remediation and enrichment - in collaboration with the Teachers and ITAs (Instructional Teacher Assistants) - to meet students’ diverse learning needs through differentiation and small group instruction.

The Administration, Director of Curriculum, Director of Instructional Technology, and the Elementary and Middle School Deans support instructional best practices during weekly PLT (Professional Learning Team) meetings and through modeling in the classroom.

The school counselor is available to students five days a week. She cultivates positive relationships with students through small groups and one-on-one opportunities to meet their social and emotional needs, while working closely with teachers and families.
